Metallica is the band that brought thrash to the mainstream. They were not the pioneers but they made the public open their ears to this wonderful guitar soaked music. Their biggest success - The Black Album - was a huge commercial success and had some killer tunes. Before that however, Metallica was churning out the open E chugs and the monster power chords for our listening pleasure louder and faster than anyone.
