Top 10 reasons Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras is awesome (not including the obvious):
    For those unfamiliar with Roatan, the obvious would be the same as with any Caribbean island – Sun, sand, relaxation, etc. In addition, Roatan has the 2nd largest barrier reef in the World. Therefore; it is one of the top 10 places in the World for scuba diving and snorkeling.

Here is my top 10 in no particular order:

1. Haircuts are $5 and a $1 tip is considered too much. I got my haircut last week and my folks asked what I gave as tip. They freaked!!!
2. Freshest, best tasting eggs – straight from the chicken’s ass!!...LOL.. – Went to the farm, told them how many dozen, they entered the chicken coop and returned with our eggs (still warm….LOL).
3. Great selection of Honduran beer between $1.50 and $2.00. There are 4 major brands. Here they are and their closest equivalent: 
• Barena - Think Honduran Corona. It's in a clear, transparent bottle with a light flavor and very easy to drink.
• Port Royal- Think Honduran Michelob. The namesake comes from Roatan. It's a cold filtered beer, and the one most people are familiar with since it's the one that's exported. This is considered the Honduran quality beer. (my personal favorite)
• Salva Vida- Think Honduran Budweiser. It's a very light tasting beer. Personally, I find it has very little flavor, but then I don't think Budweiser has any flavor either. This is probably the most popular Honduran beer.
• Imperial- Think Honduran Heineken. This is a pilsner style beer with a little more intense flavor. This classic formula has been brewed since 1930, and is sometimes considered Tegucigalpa beer. While all the beers are brewed in San Pedro Sula, Imperial is more widely distributed in the capital. 
4. Farm raised/grass fed beef…OMG…steaks and burgers are incredible here!!!!
5. The stand at the supermarket that normally holds gossip magazines holds bottles of rum!!
6. A tank of gas can last you 3 weeks – Yes gas is relatively expensive but the island is only 30 miles long and less than 3 miles wide so unless you intend to circle the entire island all day, the one expensive tank you purchase should last you quite a while.
7. Great coffee – A close second to Jamaican Blue Mountain – Costa Rican third. I’m not necessarily a coffee connoisseur, but of the countries I’ve visited known for great coffee these are my top 3.
8. Monday Night Football is on 2 hours earlier…..This time of year, everything is on 2 hours earlier for that matter….
9. Wendy’s at the airport has waiters/waitresses (yes there is a Wendy’s here!!). They give excellent service and “propinas” (tips) are not expected. I made sure to slip them a few bucks anyway. Waiters/Waitresses back home could learn a few things from them. Not the most technically skilled servers, but extremely customer focused.
10.  Sodas still come in the 16oz glass bottles with deposit. – Not sure why but sodas always tasted better from those bottles.
 
Bonus – Internet at the airport is free…. Wrote this blog while waiting for my flight back to Ft. Lauderdale.
